May 2007 - SENI07 Seminar With Greek Olympic Gold Medallist Michail Mouroutsos

Seni07 is one of the world largest martial arts and combat exhibitions and this year it took place in ExCel Centre in London on 19-20th May 2007. Apart from being spectacular as usual this was extra special as Master Esrar Ahmed got the opportunity to meet the Greek Olympic Taekwondo Gold Medallist Michail Mouroutsos. Michail won Gold for Greece in Sydney Olympics in 2000 in the -58Kg weight category.

Master Esrar also took part in a special 2 hour seminar with Michail which was fast paced and a great insight into to how the world’s best fighters think. Michail moved at blistering speeds when showing us techniques and gave us all tips on how to improve our sparring. View a short video clip of the seminar and some pictures by clicking on the links below.

Newham Magazine also wrote an article regarding the event in June 2007 Issue 122. Click below for a PDF version or a JPEG version.

November 2005 - Hadri Taekwondo Night Out - JUMP! Ye-Gam Theatre Company of Korea

A little while back Hadri Taekwondo arranged a night out and went to see a show called JUMP! By the Ye Gam Theatre Company at the Hackney Empire on the 11th November 2005. It was truly a spectacular night out and we haven’t ever laughed so much. The last time most of us went out to the theatre was when were we kids so we didn’t know what to expect.

The show centres on a typical, but spectacularly agile, Korean family - from the draconian grandfather and drunken uncle to karate-chopping mother. Each is a martial arts hotshot, all possessing championship level Taekwondo and gymnastic skills, who enjoy nothing more than challenging each other to martial arts showdowns. Jackie Chan meets Charlie Chaplin in this hilarious blend of martial arts, acrobatics and slap-stick comedy from the Ye-Gam Theatre Company of Korea.

We all loved the show and would recommend it with out a doubt. We managed to take some pictures and grab some video footage of the show, click on the links below. Enjoy.....

Any one wishing to see JUMP can still see it at the Peacock Theatre in Holborn, London till about the end on February 2006. Click here for more details.

May 2005 – Southern Taekwondo Championships
Shujahat (RED) - Turning kick to head scoring 2 points
Raza (BLUE ) - Back Kick to body scoring 1 point

Fighters: 4
Medals: 1 x GOLD, 2 x BRONZE

After 6 weeks of hard competition training the day had finally arrived, 22 May 2005. Hadri Taekwondo took 4 competitors to the competition; Shujahat and Mohammad from Walthamstow and Kibria and Raza from Aldgate.

The day began by Shujahats fight coming up first. He fought his way in to the finals and put on a gutsy display. Leading the match from the beginning he never looked back. With great timing and accurate countering he won the finals 8 – 2 giving the club its first GOLD of the day.

Next up was Raza who fought a great fight against an experience competitor. Raza showed heart and determination through out but lost in the semi finals which gave him the BRONZE in his category.

Mohammad also got through to the semi finals and came up against another experienced competitor. Mohammed fought with great determination but the experienced opponent took an early lead and maintained it till the final bell. Mohammad lost the fight giving him a well deserved BRONZE.

March 2005 - Grand Master Cha Sok PARK, 9th DAN visit to London

Picture of Grandmaster Dr Cha Sok Park with Master Esrar Ahmed

Grandmaster Park (9th Dan) is currently the Vice President of the World Taekwondo Federation (kukkiwon) and President of Pan American Taekwondo Union.

He came down to London on Sunday 13th March 2005 to hold a 3 hour seminar on self defence techniques. He taught us simple and effective techniques which were very quick to learn and great fun to practise. It was great to see Grand master Park make grown men scream with pain.

Last time Master Esrar had met Grand Master Park was in Korea Training for his instructor’s course so it was a great opportunity to catch up. Hopefully Master Park will be back next year to do a long weekend seminar. Click here view a big group picture.
