What
is Meditation? Meditation uses breathing exercises to help relax and recharge the body, reducing stress and increasing endurance. This calms the body and directs the mind's attention to the task at hand. Meditation increases the effectiveness of training and should be practiced at each class. The Science Our Brain Waives fluctuate between 28 Cycles Per Second (CPS), down to 0.5 CPS. At the top of the scale (28 – 14 CPS), a person would be fully alert and active, and this is called the Beta state. As you relax further, you enter the Alfa state, which is 14 – 7 CPS, and is also known as the Meditative or Hypnoidal state. If you relax further still, you would fall into a light sleep, and this is the Theta state, which is between 7 – 4 CPS. Any lower (4 – 0.5), and you sink into a deep sleep, or the Delta state. Research has uncovered that, every individual needs a certain amount of time spent in Alpha state, on a daily basis, to function at optimal levels. How do we do it? 2. To begin meditation the instructor will say “CLASS BEGIN”. Once you hear this you must close your eyes. 3. Breathing pattern: 4. Mental State: 5. Finally you will hear “CLASS COME ON” to end the meditation. You open your eyes and stand up. We will do meditation for 1-3 minutes at the end of the class.
